Bhakkar District

History of Bhakkar
Bhakkar is the capital city of Bhakkar District of Punjab. It got the status of district in 1981. Bhakkar is a part of Thal Desert and it is situated on the left bank of Indus River. Bhakkar is considered a backword and undeveloped district of Pakistan. Bhakkar was founded in fifteenth century. During British Rule Bhakkar was a tehsil of Mianwali district.
